Policy says that we are to receive a day each for packing, loading & cleaning but the past two moves have not worked out that way. Last time, the movers didn't show up until late afternoon and again, by policy, they aren't supposed to work past 8 pm. The problem was that both the charter to take our belongings, and our own flight, were due the next morning. So, there was no question that the movers had to stay late into the night, but that also meant we had to try and clean - not only after they left that night, but around all of the boxes and furniture.
Next chapter – Our pack date was supposed to be yesterday, load date today and clean tomorrow before our flight. The movers actually showed up on our doorstep 2ish on Monday and we told them to go away because we weren’t ready and they weren’t supposed to be here. They packed yesterday. The plane was supposed to arrive at 3, then we were advised it was broken down and they were sending another one today. The next update was the first plane was repairable and then by close of business yesterday....still broken down. This morning the movers didn’t show. Ev & I decided to go to the hotel for breakfast where the movers are staying and they advised they were just waiting for a part to come in from Calgary – there are easily a dozen flights between Edmonton and YK so it sure shouldn’t take that long to get there. But it’s 4:20 pm and we are still sitting here, bored out of our minds. No updates since 9:30 this morning. Everything is packed in boxes, can’t clean very well because there are boxes everywhere. Two borrowed coffee cups and a borrowed coffee maker, plastic spoons and 2 lazy puppies.
